AI Halloween Costume Ideas 2026: 8 Looks for You, Your Partner and Your Pet
Eight AI Halloween costume ideas you can try on from one photo, alone, as a couple or with your dog or cat. Copy-ready prompts, a 15-second video version, what our test renders got wrong, and what it costs.

The quickest way to pick a costume this year is to see it on yourself first. These eight AI Halloween costume ideas are classics you could build at home, and each one works on a single person, a couple and a pet. Every look comes with a short prompt you can paste into an image app, and with a 15-second video version where the costume swirls onto you.

The videoWhy try AI Halloween costume ideas on a photo first
Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, and searches for costume ideas climb all through October. Last year, "couples halloween costumes" went from about 38,000 Google searches in September to about 223,000 in October, and "dog halloween costumes" doubled. Searches that ask for an AI costume generator grow even faster, from 355 to more than 3,100 a month in 2025.
The reason is simple: a costume costs money and an evening of work, and a photo tells you in a minute whether a look suits you, your partner or your dog. The AI Halloween costume ideas below are the ones that came out best in our own tests.
8 AI Halloween costume ideas, tested

Each idea lists who it suits and one prompt line. Paste the line into ChatGPT or Gemini with your photo, and add this sentence so the face stays yours: Keep my face, hairstyle and skin tone exactly as in the photo, and keep my whole face uncovered.
- Vampire. Black high-collared cape with a purple lining, smart black clothes, small fangs. Great for couples: two capes look like a pair without trying. Prompt: dress me as a classic vampire with a high-collared black cape and small plastic fangs, in a living room decorated for Halloween. Skip pale make-up; it fights your real skin tone.
- Witch. Tall pointed hat, long black dress, purple sash, a plain wooden broom. Pets get a tiny witch hat. Prompt: dress me as a witch with a tall pointed black hat, a long black dress with a purple sash and a wooden broom.
- Skeleton. A bone-print bodysuit is the easiest couple costume of all. Prompt: dress me in a black skeleton bodysuit with light skull face paint on the cheeks and chin only. Asking for paint around the eyes gave our test couple heavy dark sockets.
- Werewolf. Furry ears, torn red flannel, furry cuffs. Prompt: dress me as a werewolf costume with grey wolf ears on a headband, a torn red plaid shirt and fur cuffs; it is a costume, my face stays human. Without that last part, image models like to turn you into an actual wolf.
- Mummy. Clothes wrapped in white cloth strips. Prompt: dress me as a mummy in a white top and trousers wrapped in clean white cloth strips, my hair and face uncovered. "Bandages" alone tends to look medical.
- Ghost. A floaty white hooded cape for people, a little white cape for pets. Prompt: dress me in an all-white hooded cape with long flowing sleeves, the hood resting on the back of my hair. Notice the word "ghost" isn't in it; more on that below.
- Pumpkin. A round orange suit and a green stem hat. This was the cutest of all our AI Halloween costume ideas on a dog. Prompt: dress my dog in a small round orange pumpkin outfit with a tiny green stem hat.
- Devil. Small red horns, a short red cape, a pointy tail. Prompt: dress me as a cheeky devil with shiny red horns on a headband, a short red cape and a pointed tail, holding nothing.
Characters from films, shows and games are a different story: most image and video models refuse them, so a generic version of the look is the safer bet.
Turn your AI Halloween costume idea into a 15-second video
A photo shows the look; a video shows the moment it lands, which is what people actually share. On AI Halloween Costume you add a photo, pick one of the eight AI Halloween costume ideas above, and get four shots:

- Before. You in your own clothes, waving in a living room at dusk.
- The swirl. Orange and purple sparkles spin up from the floor, and the costume appears wherever they pass.
- The reveal. A hard cut to the same room dressed for Halloween, with your costume's move: a cape sweep, a howl, a skeleton dance.
- The photo. A close-up pose, cheek to cheek if there are two of you, and a camera flash.
To make one, add Photo 1 (you or your pet), optionally add Photo 2 (a partner, a friend or your pet), pick a costume or tap Surprise me, and press Make my Halloween video. The progress card runs Setup, Recording, Your video.

- His own face, untouched by the costume
- The polo collar is still there: the costume lands on his real clothes
- The furry cuffs arrive first
- Sparkles of light, never fire or smoke
What our test renders got wrong
We wrote and checked every prompt for these AI Halloween costume ideas before spending anything on renders, and still two things went wrong in the first batch of eight:

- The ghost hid her face. We asked for a hooded cape with the face showing, but the word "ghost" won: for three seconds she was a classic sheet with eye holes. Taking the word out of the costume description fixed it on the next try.
- The ending became a print. We asked for a final frozen frame like a party photo, and two of four videos framed it with a white or black border, one with a line of tiny unreadable text. Now the video simply holds the pose after the flash.
Everything else held up: faces stayed recognisable, the dog stayed a real dog, and the audio was music only. The two fixes cost one extra test render. Our test renders took between 2 min 10 s and 3 min 42 s each.
What it costs
Trying AI Halloween costume ideas as still photos is free on most chat apps; the video is the paid part. Some new visitors get a free 5-second preview after signing in with Google: the swirl and the start of the reveal, 480p, not downloadable. The full video is 15 seconds at 720p: 13 credits, which is $7.99 on its own or about $3.90 out of the $14.99 pack of 50 credits. There's no subscription, credits don't expire, and a failed render refunds itself. The pricing page has every option.

AI Halloween costume ideas FAQ
Which AI Halloween costume ideas work best for couples?
Skeleton and vampire. Matching outfits read as a pair straight away, and both keep your faces fully visible.
Can my dog or cat wear a costume?
Yes. Pets get a small pet version: a pumpkin suit, a witch hat, devil horns or a little cape. They stay real animals on four paws.
Can I be Wednesday or Spider-Man?
Not here. Video models turn down film, TV and game characters, so the eight looks are generic classics.
Do I need a prompt for the video?
No. The room, the swirl and the four shots are written for you; you add a photo and pick a costume.
What happens to my photos?
They're stored privately and deleted automatically after 30 days. Everyone pictured must be 18 or older, and you need their permission.
